Spin the Wheel

Enter names, activities or choices, then spin the wheel to pick one at random. Each line is a separate entry with an equal chance. Use it to choose a classroom turn, plan an activity or settle an everyday decision.

A little spin. One clear choice.

Add names, ideas or everyday options. Each line gets an equal chance.

Runs on your device
6 / 100 entries

One entry per line. 2–100 entries, up to 100 Unicode characters each and 12,000 text units total. Blank lines and surrounding spaces are ignored.

Repeated names count as separate entries and get extra chances.

Optional: save a list on this device

Save list replaces the one saved list in this browser. Load saved replaces your current entries. Nothing is saved automatically or synced. Anyone using this browser profile may load the list; avoid sensitive names.

The pointer at the top marks the selected entry.

For everyday choices and informal activities, not certified prize draws. Lists are not uploaded by this tool. Saved lists stay until you delete them or clear site data; edits and winner removal do not update your saved copy.

    Local processing

Your list stays in this browser

Names and results are processed on your device without an account or upload. The tool saves a list only when you choose Save list. That saved copy stays in this browser until you delete it or browser storage is cleared; it does not sync to another browser or device.

    Three simple steps

How to use the random name picker

    Enter your names or choices

Add one item per line, with 2–100 nonempty entries. Empty lines are ignored and spaces around each label are trimmed. Check duplicate names before spinning.

    Spin and read the result

Select Spin to choose one entry. Every entry has the same chance on that spin, regardless of the length or language of its label.

    Choose the next round

Keep the winner to let that entry take part again, or select Remove winner to remove only the selected entry. At least two entries are needed for another spin.

Equal chances belong to entries, not unique names

Each nonempty line occupies one place on the wheel. With ten entries, each place has a one-in-ten chance on every spin. A longer label, an Arabic name or an emoji does not change that chance.

Duplicate labels remain separate entries. If “Sam” appears twice in a ten-entry list, that label has two chances out of ten. Remove a duplicate line first if each person should have only one chance.

Picking again and removing a winner

A spin does not remove its winner automatically. Keeping the same list allows an entry to win again on a later spin. Random selection does not promise a different result each time or an even sequence of results over a few spins.

Remove winner removes only the entry selected in the latest result, leaving any other entry with the same label in the list. Once removed, it cannot be selected from the current list unless you add it back or load a saved list that includes it.

Choose when to save a list

Save list stores one copy in this browser and replaces any list previously saved by this tool. Editing entries, spinning and removing a winner do not update that copy. Choose Save list again when you want to keep the revised list.

Load saved replaces the current list with the saved copy. Delete saved removes the stored copy without clearing the list currently on the wheel. Someone using the same browser profile can load a saved list, and clearing site data can erase it. There is no account recovery or device syncing.

A random picker for everyday choices

Use short, distinct labels for activities, discussion prompts, team turns or other options you have already chosen. For people with the same name, adding an initial can make the displayed result easier to identify.

Selection uses the browser’s cryptographic random source to give each entry an equal chance. If that source is unavailable or fails, the tool reports an error. The wheel is intended for everyday choices and does not provide certified giveaway results or an independently verified draw record.

    Common questions

    Spin the Wheel FAQ

    Is Spin the Wheel free?

Yes. This random name picker is free and runs in your browser without an account. Enter your own names or choices and spin.

Does every name have an equal chance?

Every entry has an equal chance. If a name appears on more than one line, each occurrence is a separate entry, so that name can have more chances than a name entered once.

Can the same entry win twice?

Yes. Spinning again with the same list can select the same entry. Choose Remove winner if you want to exclude the selected entry from the next round.

Does Remove winner delete every matching name?

No. It removes only the selected entry. Other lines with the same label stay on the wheel. Removing a winner does not change your saved list.

Are my names uploaded or saved automatically?

No. The tool processes names and results locally and never saves a list automatically. Save list stores a copy only in this browser. Load saved and Delete saved are separate actions, and lists do not sync across devices.

Can I use Arabic names or emoji?

Yes. Arabic, other languages and emoji are accepted as labels. Each line remains one entry regardless of its language. Long labels may be shortened on the wheel; the selected label is shown in the result.

How many entries can I add?

Use 2–100 nonempty lines with up to 100 Unicode code points per label after surrounding whitespace is trimmed. The entire input is limited to 12,000 UTF-16 units, including spaces and line breaks. Joined emoji and combining marks may use more than one code point, so displayed character counts can differ.

What if browser storage is blocked or cleared?

You can still use the wheel without saving. If saving or loading fails, the tool reports it. Private browsing, browser settings or clearing site data may remove a saved list; there is no server copy to recover.
