Choose an SRT file
Select or drop one subtitle. UTF-8 and BOM-marked Unicode are detected automatically, with explicit fallback choices for supported legacy encodings.
Subtitle Tools
Normalize an SRT subtitle and preview explicit, optional cleanup rules for recognized formatting, accessibility text, speaker labels, whitespace, empty cues, and exact duplicates—all locally in your browser.
Choose one SRT, select only the cleanup rules you want, review every proposed change summary, then create a new subtitle without changing the original.

Encoding needed
The file is not valid UTF-8 and has no recognized Unicode byte-order mark, so BrowserPine will not guess. Choose an encoding and review the analysis before cleaning.

SRT ready
Analysis complete
Preserved findings to review
Only changed cues are shown, up to 30. Subtitle text is displayed safely as text and is never executed as markup.
Cleaned subtitle ready
The UTF-8 file was rebuilt from the original selected file, validated by reloading it locally, and uses normalized SRT structure.
Local processing
The SRT file is decoded, validated, analyzed, cleaned, and revalidated inside a route-specific browser worker. BrowserPine does not upload or store its timing or text, and no subtitle processing code loads on unrelated routes.

Keep every optional removal off or select only the deterministic rules you need, then review counts, preserved ambiguities, and bounded before-and-after previews.
Explicitly confirm the analyzed settings, create a sequentially numbered UTF-8 SRT from the original selected files, and download the validated result.
Every output uses sequential cue numbering, standard HH:MM:SS,mmm timestamps, CRLF line endings, exactly one blank line between cues, and a final newline. Those structural repairs do not shift cue times, reorder cues, rewrite dialogue, or combine separate entries.
Optional cleanup is deliberately separate from this safe baseline. Formatting, ASS overrides, speaker labels, SDH segments, music-only cues, whitespace, empty cues, and exact duplicates are removed only when their individual controls are selected and the proposed result has been analyzed.
Speaker-label detection is limited to confident line-start patterns; URLs, time-like text, labels in the middle of dialogue, and ambiguous prefixes remain. Bracket and parenthetical cleanup requires balanced, bounded segments, while malformed or nested delimiters are preserved and reported.
Recognized bold, italic, underline, legacy font wrappers, and supported ASS presentation blocks can be removed while enclosed words stay in order. Unknown markup and unrecognized brace commands remain literal. Exact deduplication requires matching start time, end time, and transformed text, so repeated dialogue at different times is preserved.
Common questions
No. This cleaner preserves every accepted cue start and end time exactly. Use Subtitle Time Shifter for a consistent timing offset or Subtitle Editor for cue-by-cue timing changes.
Yes, when you explicitly select square-bracket or parenthetical cleanup. Only balanced, bounded segments are removed; nested, malformed, or unusually long candidates are preserved for review.
No. It removes only confident, short speaker labels at the start of a line, such as MARY: or Narrator:. Ambiguous prefixes, URLs, time-like text, and labels elsewhere in a line remain unchanged.
Two cues must have the same start time, end time, and text after earlier selected cleanup passes. Only the later exact match is removed; repeated dialogue at a different time remains.
No. SRT Cleaner keeps cue timing and SRT structure. SRT to TXT intentionally removes cue numbers and timestamps to create a plain-text transcript.
No. All subjective or destructive cleanup rules, including empty-cue removal, start off. Safe structure normalization is always applied, and a cleaned file is created only after analysis and explicit confirmation.
