How to crop PDF pages
Set the visible area
Drag or resize the crop rectangle, enter exact edge percentages when useful, and choose every page or a custom page range.
Apply and download
Update selected CropBox values from the original PDF, verify preserved geometry and page structure, then download the cropped document.
Cropping changes the visible page boundary
This tool changes the PDF CropBox for selected pages. PDF viewers normally display that box, so reducing it can hide margins or unwanted edge content without converting text, vectors, or images into page-sized bitmaps.
The original MediaBox remains unchanged. Content outside the new visible boundary may still exist in the PDF structure and can sometimes be revealed by another editor, so cropping should not be treated as permanent redaction or secure deletion.
One proportional crop across mixed pages
The crop rectangle is stored as percentages of the current visible page. Applying 10% from the left and right therefore removes the same relative margins from portrait, landscape, rotated, and differently sized selected pages.
Each page is mapped separately from visual preview coordinates back to PDF coordinates using its existing CropBox origin and stored 0°, 90°, 180°, or 270° rotation. The current preview page can be changed without changing the shared crop proportions.
Structural output without page rasterization
PDF.js is used only to show the interactive preview. The final file is created by updating page boxes with pdf-lib, so existing text, vector paths, embedded images, and other page content are not replaced with rendered screenshots.
Page count, MediaBox geometry, rotations, content-stream counts, and annotation counts are checked after saving. Links, forms, annotations, print settings, signatures, and specialized metadata can still be sensitive to document edits and should be reviewed in important files.
Reset or apply again from the original
Reset crop restores the full area that was visible when the PDF was uploaded. It does not expand an existing CropBox back to the MediaBox or reveal content that the source PDF already hid.
Every Apply reads the original selected PDF again. Changing the rectangle or page selection and applying twice does not crop the previous result a second time, and unselected pages retain their original CropBox values.

Crop PDF FAQ
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. PDF.js renders the preview locally and a dedicated pdf-lib worker updates the PDF page boxes in your browser. The source and result are not uploaded to a processing server.
Does cropping permanently delete hidden content?
No. Cropping changes the visible CropBox boundary. Content outside that boundary may remain in the PDF structure and can sometimes be revealed by another editor. Do not use cropping as a substitute for secure redaction.
Will text and vector graphics stay sharp?
Yes. The final pages are not rasterized. Existing text, vector paths, and embedded images remain structural PDF content while the visible page box changes.
Can I crop only selected pages?
Yes. Choose Custom and enter page numbers or ranges such as 1, 3, 5-7. Repeated selections are applied once, and every unselected page keeps its original CropBox.
How does one crop rectangle work with mixed page sizes?
The rectangle uses percentages of each page’s current visible area. The same relative top, right, bottom, and left trim therefore applies predictably to portrait, landscape, rotated, and differently sized pages.
What happens to an existing CropBox?
The new crop is calculated inside the page’s existing visible CropBox, including its origin and rotation. Reset returns to that original visible area rather than expanding the page to its MediaBox.
What happens if I apply a different crop again?
Every Apply starts from the original selected PDF. The next result uses the current crop settings directly and does not accumulate the previous result’s CropBox change.
Can I crop a password-protected PDF?
No. Password-protected and encrypted PDFs are rejected. This tool does not request, store, bypass, or remove document passwords.
What are the Crop PDF limits?
One source PDF can be up to 50 MiB and 500 pages, generated output must remain within 150 MiB, and the crop must retain at least 5% of both the visible page width and height.
