How to convert images into one PDF

Choose mixed image files

Different formats, one ordered document

A single queue can mix photos, screenshots, diagrams, and logos stored as JPG, PNG, or static WebP. Each valid source becomes exactly one PDF page in the visible order, including files that share the same name.

Move up and Move down controls provide keyboard-friendly ordering at every screen size, while a drag handle offers a faster option on larger screens. Invalid files remain visible and must be removed instead of being silently omitted.

Format-specific quality handling

JPG and JPEG byte streams are embedded without an additional lossy encoding pass, including explicit placement for EXIF orientations 1 through 8. PNG files use pdf-lib’s direct lossless embedding path, so alpha information is retained.

Because PDF embedding does not accept WebP directly, static WebP files are decoded locally. WebP with declared transparency uses an in-memory PNG intermediate; clearly opaque WebP uses one high-quality JPEG intermediate. No temporary file is written to disk.

White pages with proportional placement

Every PDF page has a white background. Transparent and semi-transparent PNG or WebP pixels remain transparent in the embedded image and therefore blend over white instead of turning black.

A4 and US Letter provide standard paper sizes. Fit image follows each image’s proportions within a bounded maximum page edge. Every mode uses contain-style placement, so images stay centered and are not cropped or stretched.

Browser safeguards for decoded images

Queues support up to 20 files, 25 MiB per file, and 100 MiB in total. JPG files may contain up to 40 megapixels; PNG and WebP use a lower 25 megapixel limit because those formats can require large decoded pixel buffers while a PDF is being assembled.

WebP decoding and intermediate encoding happen sequentially inside the dedicated worker, and full-resolution decoded bitmaps are released immediately. Generated PDF output is capped at 150 MiB, and Cancel stops the worker while keeping the selected queue available to retry.

Images to PDF FAQ

Which image formats can I convert to PDF?

Production V1 supports JPG, JPEG, PNG, and static WebP images. Animated PNG and animated WebP files are rejected instead of silently using only their first frame.

Can I mix JPG, PNG, and WebP in one PDF?

Yes. Add supported formats to the same queue, arrange them in any order, and the resulting PDF will contain one page per image in that exact order.

Are images uploaded to a server?

No. This tool validates images, decodes WebP when needed, creates the PDF, and verifies the result locally in your browser. Selected files are not uploaded to a processing server.

How is PNG or WebP transparency handled?

PNG transparency is retained through lossless PDF embedding. Transparent WebP is decoded into an in-memory PNG representation. In both cases transparent pixels display over the tool’s white PDF page background rather than black.

Does the tool recompress JPG images?

Ordinary JPG and JPEG byte streams are embedded directly without another JPEG encoding pass. EXIF orientation is applied through PDF placement so the original JPEG stream does not need to be changed.

Why does WebP require conversion?

The PDF library used by this browser tool does not embed WebP directly. Static WebP is decoded locally and converted only to the in-memory image representation required for reliable PDF embedding.

Does Images to PDF support AVIF?

AVIF was evaluated but intentionally not enabled in V1. Use JPG, PNG, or static WebP so format validation, animation rejection, and worker-side decoding remain predictable across supported browsers.

What happens if one image is invalid?

The affected file is marked with a specific error, and PDF creation remains disabled until it is removed. The tool does not silently skip invalid or animated images.
