Convert WebP to PNG

Turn one or more WebP images into lossless PNG files directly in your browser. Pixel dimensions and transparent areas are preserved automatically.

Three simple steps

How to convert WebP images to PNG

Add your WebP images

Choose files from your device or drag them into the converter. File contents and image dimensions are validated locally.

Convert to lossless PNG

Start the queue to process each image in order. PNG transparency is preserved without a quality slider or background fill.

Review and download

Check each filename, size, dimension, and preview, then download the PNG results you want to keep.

WebP and PNG use different compression

WebP is a modern format designed for efficient delivery on the web and can use either lossy or lossless compression. PNG uses lossless compression and is widely supported by design tools, document software, and web browsers.

Converting does not improve the detail already present in the source. It changes the file format while keeping the original pixel dimensions, which can help when an editor or workflow expects PNG input.

Transparency is kept, but files may grow

PNG supports an alpha channel, so transparent and partially transparent WebP pixels remain transparent in the result. The converter does not flatten them onto white or another background.

A PNG may be larger than its WebP source because the formats encode pixels differently. PNG is useful when lossless output or transparency compatibility matters more than achieving the smallest file size.

Common questions

WebP to PNG FAQ

Are my WebP images uploaded?

No. This converter processes selected files locally with browser image and canvas APIs and does not upload them to our server.

Will transparent WebP images stay transparent?

Yes. PNG supports alpha transparency, and this converter preserves transparent and partially transparent pixels instead of adding a background.

Why is there no PNG quality setting?

PNG encoding is lossless, so it does not use a JPEG-style quality percentage. Adding such a control would not represent how this conversion works.

Does the PNG keep the original dimensions?

Yes. The output keeps the WebP image width and height. This tool changes the file format without resizing the image.

Why can the PNG be larger than the WebP?

WebP can store many images more compactly. PNG prioritizes lossless pixel data and broad transparency support, so its output can require more bytes.

Can I convert several WebP images together?

Yes. You can queue up to 20 valid WebP files. They are processed one at a time to keep peak memory use more predictable.
