How to Convert PNG to JPG

PNG and JPG are built for different jobs
PNG uses lossless compression and can preserve transparent pixels. JPG uses lossy compression and is widely supported by cameras, document software, websites, and applications that work with photographic images.
A JPG can be much smaller than a PNG when the image contains photographic detail, although the exact result depends on the pixels and selected quality. Converting formats does not add detail, and lower JPEG quality can introduce visible compression artifacts.
Transparency needs a solid JPG background
JPG cannot store transparency. Before encoding, this converter blends transparent and semi-transparent PNG pixels onto the background color you choose. White is used by default.
If the image must remain transparent, keep the PNG or use another format that supports an alpha channel. This converter does not detect or remove backgrounds automatically; the separate Make Background Transparent tool has a different purpose.

PNG to JPG FAQ
Are my PNG files uploaded?
No. File checks and conversion use browser image and canvas APIs on your device. The selected images are not sent to our server.
What JPEG quality should I choose?
The default of 90 is a practical starting point. Lower values can reduce file size further but may show more compression, while 100 still produces a lossy JPEG and can be considerably larger.
What happens to transparent or semi-transparent pixels?
They are blended onto the selected background color before JPG encoding. White is the default because JPG files cannot contain transparent pixels.
Will the JPG always be smaller than the PNG?
No. JPG is often much smaller for photographs, but simple graphics and already optimized PNG files can produce different results. Quality and image content both affect the output size.
Can I convert several PNG files at once?
Yes. You can queue up to 20 valid PNG images. They are converted sequentially to keep peak memory use more predictable.
Does this tool remove the image background?
No. It only places existing transparent pixels onto your selected color so the image can be saved as JPG. It does not identify or remove foreground or background objects.
